Why this work mattered

A sports product before multi-view became expected

This was not a small standalone demo. Sky was exploring how a major broadcaster could turn live sport into a participatory product: multiple race feeds, viewer-selected perspectives, picture-in-picture layouts and event collections built for an audience measured in thousands. I helped turn that ambition into working product experiences, connecting prototype engineering with the interaction and interface decisions needed to make a new viewing model understandable.

Technical delivery

How the product was shaped

The value of these prototypes was not just their visual finish. They tested a product architecture for interactive broadcasting: how several live perspectives could share one viewing surface, how a fan could move between them without losing race context, and how the concept could be evaluated early enough to influence product direction.

A state model for many simultaneous views

Driver cameras, primary race coverage, picture-in-picture panels and layout presets all needed a shared playback state. Selection could not simply start another video: the interface had to preserve which feed was primary, which supporting views were visible and how the viewer returned to an editorially coherent race presentation.

Interaction without broadcast clutter

The UX challenge was to expose meaningful control without turning live sport into a settings screen. Large targets, immediate visual feedback and a small number of legible layout choices allowed viewers to personalise the experience while keeping the race itself dominant. The prototype work joined interface design to real playback behaviour rather than evaluating static mock-ups.

Prototype engineering with product consequences

Rapid iteration in Unity let stakeholders experience camera switching, spatial layout and event navigation in context. That made performance, video-surface behaviour and input responsiveness part of product discovery. The output was useful because it exposed technical constraints and viewer behaviour early, before a much larger platform investment.

The opportunity was bigger than placing television inside a virtual space. Sky needed to understand how fans might actively direct a live sports experience without losing the clarity, pace and editorial confidence of a broadcast product.

I worked across rapid Unity prototyping, interaction design and interface refinement, turning ambitious viewing ideas into demonstrable flows that stakeholders could experience, evaluate and improve—not simply read about in a presentation.

03 Execution

Multi-view sport shaped around the viewer

The F1 Mosaic work brought concurrent race feeds, driver selection, alternative perspectives and configurable layouts into one coherent experience. Alongside Sky Worlds and related future-viewing prototypes, it tested how live content, navigation and spatial interaction could work together at broadcaster scale.

04 Outcome

A credible vision of where sports viewing was heading

The work gave Sky a tangible, testable vision of interactive sports viewing and received direct recognition from senior leadership for its technical innovation and execution. Its importance was not just what shipped on screen, but how early it made multi-feed, viewer-controlled sport feel like a real product direction.
